ECAC Commits to NCAA Points of Emphasis

ECAC commissioner Phil Buttafuoco today confirmed his conference’s commitment to following the NCAA’s points of emphasis in its leagues and in the conferences for which it assigns officials.

ECAC West Expands Conference Schedule

The ECAC West will switch to a three-game format for its regular season beginning as soon as 2005-06, and is considering expanding its conference playoffs. Last season’s national runner-up, St. Norbert, and a team that narrowly missed the NCAA playoffs, St. John’s, each placed three players on the men’s preseason D-III All-USCHO team as announced Monday by USCHO.com. Wick Selected at St. Scholastica

St. Scholastica has chosen Mark Wick as its men’s hockey coach. Wick, a 1985 St. Scholastica graduate, and a two-time NCHA all-academic team honoree, was an assistant coach at Augsburg from 1990-95 and at Wisconsin-Superior from 1996-2000. Norwich Announces Rink Expansion Plans

Thanks to a $1.1 million gift from professional golfer Allen Doyle, Norwich has announced plans for Phase II of the Kreitzberg/Andrews athletic complex, which includes Kreitzberg Arena, home of the Cadet hockey team. Jamie Rice has been named the new head coach of the Babson College men’s hockey program. Nichols has named Lou Izzi as its new ice hockey coach. Izzi, a former coach at Johnson and Wales University, replaces Mark Jago, Nichols’ coach the last four seasons.
