Babinski scores twice in Ferris State’s win over Connecticut

MINNEAPOLIS — Kenny Babinski scored twice in Ferris State’s 5-2 victory over Connecticut on Saturday in the third-place game of the Mariucci Classic.

Darren Smith made 25 saves for the Bulldogs (9-9-4), who also got goals from Jared VanWormer, Jacob Hetz and Kyle Schempp in building a 4-0 lead midway through the second period.

Corey Ronan scored a short-handed goal and Max Letunov scored his second goal in as many days for the Huskies (5-12-1).

Babinski scored his second goal of the game into an empty net.

Rob Nichols stopped 21 shots for UConn.
