Aaron Ave got the Tigers on the board at 3:14 of the first period on the power play, rifling a shot though traffic set up by Connor McLaren.

The Tigers killed off five consecutive Big Red power plays and maintained the 1-0 lead until 19:17 of the third, when Garrett Skrbich won the puck along the boards at the red line and fired into the open net to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.

But the two-goal lead only lasted 27 seconds, as Patrick McCarron scored the only goal for the Big Red at 19:44, spoiling the shutout bid by Phinney.

Mitch Gillam made 10 saves in the loss for Cornell.
