PRINCETON, N.J. — Jackie Raines scored four goals, and Krista Yip-Chuck tallied a goal and two assists as Yale defeated Princeton 5-3 at Hobey Baker Rink on Saturday.

Princeton’s Hilary Lloyd opened the scoring 2:57 into the game, as she created a turnover inside the zone and fired a shot that took an awkward bounce on goaltender Jaimie Leonoff. Then at 19:27, Lloyd set up Fiona McKenna on the power play to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.

But Raines cut the lead in half just 8 seconds later as Yip-Chuck and Kate Martini skated the faceoff into the zone with Raines and set up the quick goal.

McKenna scored her second of the night at 7:23 of the second to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead. But again, Raines answered swiftly, this time scoring just 14 seconds later.

Raines added the game-winner and an insurance goal in the final period, including a beautiful wraparound from Janelle Ferrara and Tara Tomimoto, who assisted on three of Raines’ goals.

Leonoff stopped 47 of 50 shots in the win for the Bulldogs, 23 of them in the first stanza.

Kimberly Newell made 11 saves for Princeton.
