Minnesota needs late rally, McMillen goal to beat St. Cloud State

CLOUD, Minn. — Milica McMillen broke a tie with 1:09 remaining in the third period to lift No. 1 Minnesota to a 4-3 victory over St. Cloud State on Saturday.

The Huskies led 3-2 early in the third on a Lauren Hespenheide goal, but the Gophers rallied behind a Dani Cameranesi score with 2:02 left and McMillen’s goal less than a minute later.

Minnesota’s Sarah Davis scored two second-period goals to tie the game after Abby Ness and Molli Mott scored in the first period for St. Cloud State (1-8-3, 1-7-2 WCHA).

Amanda Leveille made 17 saves for the Gophers (12-0, 10-0), who ran their winning streak to 61 games.

Katie Fitzgerald stopped 32 shots for St. Cloud State.
