Tim Ceglarski has been named to replace Glenn Thomaris as head coach at Elmira. Ceglarski is a 1987 graduate of Boston College, where he played for his father, Len, on three Hockey East championship teams and in three NCAA tournaments.

In a rough-and-tumble affair, Michigan State dominated the Badgers to return to the Frozen Four. The Spartans, No. 1 most of the season, avoided the fate Wisconsin suffered last year, when it was No. 1 most of the year, went in as the bye team, but lost in the first round of the NCAAs. It was another disappointment for the Badgers.
A day earlier, Michigan was nearly miraculously upset by Mercyhurst. Now, the Wolverines move on to Albany after defeating St. Cloud, winners of the WCHA tournament and the only bye team not to advance. For Michigan, the much-maligned senior class came through for three goals.
