With the conference champions all but decided, Candace and Arlan look at the races for home ice seeding in each conference, possible playoff matches, the races for points leaders in conferences, the announcement of the Patty Kazmaier Award initial list, and why certain programs are always near the top while others languish.

Defending regular-season and playoff champion Quinnipiac was selected the team to beat in the ECAC women’s preseason coaches poll that was released Tuesday. The Bobcats earned six first-place votes, while Clarkson (four) and Princeton (two) also garnered first-place nods. In addition, the conference also announced its preseason All-League Team.
Dartmouth announced Friday that Laura Schuler, currently the head coach of the Canadian national women’s team, has been named head coach of the Big Green women’s squad. ECAC Hockey announced the recipients of the league’s annual postseason awards at its banquet Friday night as part of the 2016 ECAC Women’s Hockey Championship weekend held at Quinnipiac.
