Wisconsin (2-1-1, 1-0-1 WCHA) completed a three-point weekend with a 3-1 victory at St. Cloud State (1-2-1, 0-1-1 WCHA) Saturday. Joe Pavelski played a role in all three Badger goals, scoring two and assisting on the other.
The Badgers never trailed in the game, as they gained a 1-0 lead in the first period with a goal by Ryan MacMurchy at 7:43 on the power play. Assists were added on the play by Robbie Earl and Pavelski.
At 4:11 of the second period, Pavelski notched the game winner with an assist from Earl.
The Huskies got back into the game at 9:19 of the second period, when Andrew Gordon posted his second goal of the young season. The power-play marker was assisted by Joe Jensen and Casey Borer.
Wisconsin iced the contest at 9:12 of the third period, as Pavelski notched his second goal of the night. Earl and Adam Burish added assists on the tally.
Wisconsin outshot the Huskies 28-15 in the match, as SCSU goalie Bobby Goephert made 25 saves. Brian Elliott had 14 saves for the Badgers. On the power play, SCSU was 1-for-6 and Wisconsin was 1-for-9.
The Huskies will play host to the University of Minnesota for a pair of games. Meanwhile, Wisconsin returns home to host a weekend series against Alaska Anchorage.
