Three unanswered goals in the final two minutes of the third period gave the Brown Bears a 6-3 exhibition victory over the Manitoba Bison.

Playing in the first Subway Holiday Classic at Ralph Engelstad Arena, Brown captured third place in the tournament after losing 5-2 to North Dakota the previous night.

The Bears led 1-0 after the first period on a power-play goal by Les Haggett at the 6:58 mark. Trailing 3-1 in the third period, Manitoba capitalized on two power plays with goals by David Cameron at 6:31 and Aaron Goldale at 16:45.

The tie was not to last long.

Brown’s Ty Korbl scored the game winner at 17:59, quickly followed by Kirley’s second tally of the game 16 seconds later. Brent Robinson put the final nail in the coffin when he scored an empty-netter for Brown at 19:02.

Named to the Subway Holiday Classic all-tournament team were Brown senior defenseman Paul Esdale and Manitoba junior Kaminsky.
