Ryan Stevens put home a rebound of a Jeffrey Griffin shot 9:45 into overtime to lift Trinity to a 3-2 win over Bowdoin in the NESCAC semifinals.
The Bantams advance to take on Middlebury, a 4-2 winner over Colby, in Sunday’s NESCAC championship game at 1:00 p.m. ET.
Trinity opened the scoring at the 14:07 mark as Martins Lans hit Jeffrey Natale with a lengthy pass as Lans walked in all alone for the shorthanded breakaway goal.
Bowdoin answered just 55 seconds later with a power-play goal as John Starke scored on a rebound after a shot from Michael Carosi. The game remained a 1-1 until the 8:31 mark of the second, when Joseph Ori took an odd deflection off the boards and stuffed the puck home on the short side.
Bowdoin again answered, just 1:17 later. Matt Kovacich took a feed from behind the net by Adam Mackie and found the back of the net. Both teams had chances in the third period, including a goal waved off for Bowdoin that was kicked into the net.
Bowdoin ended regulation with a 32-27 shot advantage.
Geoffrey Faulkner made 34 saves in goal for Trinity, while Mike Healey made 28 for Bowdoin.
