Crusaders Rally From Two-Goal Deficit For Draw With Quinnipiac

Quinnipiac scored two goals in the opening 9:10 of the game, but Holy Cross scored once in each of the final two frames to force a 2-2 tie with QU on Saturday night at the Northford Ice Pavilion.

The contest marked the third straight game that Quinnipiac went to an extra period, a school record, and the second time in as many nights with the Crusaders. QU remains in sole possession of second place in the MAAC, one point ahead of Holy Cross and Sacred Heart, by virtue of the draw.

Ryan Morton netted his 13th goal of the season with Quinnipiac on a power play at the 4:07 mark. Ryan Olson and Chris White assisted on the marker.

The hosts doubled their lead at 9:10, as Olson found the back of the cage for his 16th goal of the year. Matt Craig and White were credited with assists on the goal.

Holy Cross cut its deficit in half at 1:27 of the second, on a tally from Jeff Dams.

The game stayed that way until late in the third period. J.R. Walker netted the tying goal with 7:27 left, and the teams played scoreless hockey the rest of the way.

On Friday night, Quinnipiac came back to force the tie after trailing at the start of the third period.

Goaltender Jamie Holden stopped 29 shots on the evening for Quinnipiac.

The tie helped QU improve to 6-1-3 in its last 10 contests.
