Yakimowsky’s 4-point Effort Leads Wentworth

Freshmen forwards Brad Carpenter and Shawn Metheral each scored a pair of goals and senior forward Tim Yakimowsky scored a goal and three assists to lift Wentworth (10-1) to an 8-0 win over Neumann (2-10) in a non-league contest at Matthews Arena.

Wentworth jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one period of play on goals by junior forward Jamie Weiss and Yakimowsky. The Leopards would score three more times in the second to take a 5-0 lead, on goals by Metheral, sophomore forward Bill Clifford and sophomore forward Alex Marinkovich.

The Leopards closed the scoring out with a three-goal third period, as Metheral notched his second of the game and Carpenter scored both of his goals.

Sophomore goalie Raj Bhangoo made 21 saves in the first two periods of play. Freshman Bryce McFadden made his collegiate debut in the third, turning aside all eight shots he faced.

Neumann sophomore goalie Matt Saur made 45 saves for the Knights, who were outshot by a 53-29 margin.
