BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — Kyle Schempp’s power-play goal in the third period gave Ferris State a 3-2 victory over Northern Michigan in Game 1 of a WCHA quarterfinal series Friday.
Ryan Lowney and Jared VanWormer also scored for the Bulldogs, but Dominik Shine and Shane Sooth responded for the Wildcats in the third period.
Darren Smith stopped 27 shots for Ferris State, while Mathias Dahlström made 23 saves for Northern Michigan.
