McGovern makes 36 saves in Maine’s win at Rensselaer

TROY, N.Y. — The visiting Black Bears broke open a 2-1 game with three unanswered second-period scores en route to dropping Rensselaer at Houston Field House.

Brady Keeper, Keith Muehlbauer, and Brendan Robbins connected for a power-play goal, even-strength goal, and short-handed score, respectively, in a span of 4:44 to put Maine ahead by four goals and effectively put the game away. Eduards Tralmaks also posted two assists for the Black Bears (10-7-1), and Rob McGovern made 36 saves.

Will Reilly collected a goal and an assist for the Engineers (3-13-3), who also got 27 saves from Chase Perry. Rensselaer outshot Maine, 38-32, and went 1-for-5 on the power play while killing off two-of-three man advantages by the Black Bears.
