Fredonia netminder Will Hamele slammed the door shut on the previously red-hot Oswego offense, making 37 saves in a 4-0 shutout at Romney Field House Friday night.

Despite the Lakers’ tally of 37 shots on goal, the Oswego offense had a hard time producing solid scoring opportunities against a gritty Fredonia State defense, and was anemic on the power play, going 0-for-8 with the man advantage.

Dave Barnett scored the first goal of the game at the 13:30 mark of the first period, slipping the puck past Oswego netminder Joe Lofberg during a scrum in front of the net. Dave Mugavero assisted on the play.

A tripping penalty on Oswego’s Jared Marinich helped Mugavero rack up a power-play goal in the second period, thanks to assists from Marc Fattey and B.J. Bouschor.

Erik Dolesh and Erik Hlavaty scored insurance goals in the third to close it out for Fredonia, which improved to 1-1-1 in the SUNYAC. Oswego’s record goes to 2-1-0 in-conference.

Fredonia travels to Cortland for a game against the Dragons, while Buffalo State will head to Oswego to take on the Lakers Saturday night.
