Dartmouth’s balanced attack of four different scorers led the Big Green to a 4-1 victory over New Hampshire on Saturday at the Whittemore Center.
The No. 1 Big Green outshot the sixth-ranked Wildcats, 41-18 and 19-6 in the first period alone.
UNH trailed 4-1 after two periods but was unsuccessful in mounting a steady attack against a stingy Big Green defense.
Dartmouth received goals from Carly Haggard, Jennifer Wiehn, Kim McCullough and Carrie Sekela.
The lone Wildcats goal came from freshman Janine Goulet, her fourth of the season.
Meaghan Cahill finished with 17 saves for the Big Green, while sophomore Jen Huggon made 37 for the Cats.
Dartmouth extended its 2-1 lead to 4-1 in the second on tallies from McCullough and Sekela. Emilia Perazas’ shot off the side of the UNH net bounced directly to McCullough who deposited it past Huggon at 14:36. And Liz Macri set up Sekela at 16:50 for a three-goal Dartmouth advantage after two.
The Big Green skated to a 2-1 lead in the first on goals from Haggard and Wiehn. Haggard opened the scoring at 3:17. Then Goulet evened the score at 17:05 on an assist from junior Kira Misikowetz. Just over a minute later Wiehn put Dartmouth back up by one at 18:13.
