Logan Cockerill’s goal late in the second period broke a 1-1 tie and was enough for Boston University to earn a 2-1 victory and sweep the quarterfinal series against Connecticut to advance to the Hockey East semifinals, where they will face Boston College in the opening game at the TD Garden.

Brady Tkachuk opened the scoring in the game in the waning seconds of the first when he finished a feed from Dante Fabbro.

Connecticut answered midway through the contest on Max Kalter’s second goal of the weekend. That was all the Huskies could muster, though, as Jake Oettinger made 36 saves for the Terriers.

BU capitalized on special teams, scoring on a power play while killing off all three of UConn’s mad advantage opportunities.
