PROVIDENCE, R. I — In a wild back-and-forth game, host Providence overcame deficits of 2-0 and 3-2 by scoring the game’s final two goals including Josh Wilkins game-winner with 3:10 remaining to take game one of the best-of-three quarterfinal series against Maine, 4-3.

The Black Bears grabbed an early lead on goals by Tim Doherty at 0:38 and 8:10 of the first period. Providence drew even before the end of the stanza, though, as Erik Foley and Bailey Conger struck 41 seconds apart.

After Maine retook the lead on the power play in the second, Scott Conway found the equalizer with 1:25 remaining in the middle frame.

Jeremy Swayman stopped 37 saves on the night for the Black Bears while Hayden Hawkey earned the win with 21 saves.
