BURLINGTON, Vt. – At Gutterson Fieldhouse, the visiting Huskies scored three goals in the second period to earn a series-sweeping win and keep pace with first-place Boston College in the Hockey East standings. Adam Gaudette factored into three of Northeastern’s four goals, scoring each of the last two after assisting on an Eric Williams marker that tied the game 4:15 into the second.
Matt O’Donnell scored the game’s first goal 14:08 into the first period for Vermont, but rookie Cayden Primeau stopped the other 23 shots he faced, including 11 in the third period, to earn his 15th win of the season. Stefanos Lekkas made 22 saves in the Vermont net.
Biagio Lerario netted the winner less than two minutes after Williams tied the score. Gaudette then concluded the scoring with goals in each of the last two frames, upping his national-leading count to 27 on the season. Brandon Hawkins recorded two assists for the Huskies.
