The Broncos rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Miami, 3-2, and earn a split of their series. Carter Johnson put Miami up 2-0 just 1:46 into the second when he deflected Louie Belpedio’s shot from the blue line past Ben Blacker. Casey Gilling had scored at 19:22 of the first with a wrist shot from the right faceoff circle to put the RedHawks in front. However, Ethen Frank scored the first of his two second-period goals at 3:46 to pull Western back within one. The play started with a beautiful pass from Austin Rueschhoff along the left boards, who fed Frank streaking down the slot. Frank finished with a backhand that beat Ryan Larkin five hole. Frank then tied the game at the 16-minute mark of the period with a rifle snap shot from the right faceoff circle that beat Larkin high glove side. Lawton Courtnall then scored the game-winner just 1:24 later, driving down the slot and beating Larkin top corner glove side. Blacker made eight saves in the third to preserve the win.
