Mikey Eyssimont had a goal and two assists, factoring in St. Cloud’s first three goals, as the Huskies defeated Omaha, 6-2, and swept the weekend series. Robby Jackson opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 4:56 of the first. Eyssimont’s goal came late in the first and gave the Huskies the momentum, as he picked up a rebound in the slot and beat Evan Weninger five-hole at 18:53. Blake Lizotte made it 3-0 just 1:44 into the second as he broke in with Kevin Fitzgerald on a two-on-one. Fitzgerald fed Lizotte on the right side of the slot, and Lizotte one-timed it short side. Riley Alferd got Omaha on the board just 26 seconds later, driving the lane and firing a soft wrist shot on Jeff Smith that handcuffed Smith and beat him five-hole. Omaha then pulled within one at 6:04 of the second when Fredrik Olofsson got the puck low on the left-side boards and spied Zach Jordan driving toward the far post. Olofsson sent a perfect pass through the crease and Jordan backhanded it in. Jake Wahlin restored the two-goal lead at 12:09 when Luke Jaycox fired a slap shot from the blue line that deflected off the boards behind the net and came back out to Wahlin, who was driving toward the post and grabbed the puck and poked it under Weninger’s left arm. Will Borgen made it 5-2 at 16:45 of the second with a rocket one-timed slap shot from the left point. Easton Brodzinski finished the scoring at 05:03 of the third when St. Cloud forced a turnover at the Omaha blue line and the puck came to Ryan Poehling on a partial breakaway. Poehling drove toward the left side of the crease and instead of shooting sent a pass to Brodzinski on the far post, who whacked it into the open net.
