PITTSBURGH, Pa. — The Providence Friars shook off the rust fairly quickly in Friday night’s Three Rivers Classic opener versus the Arizona State Sun Devils and proceeded to dominate the score, shots and territory in a solid 6-0 victory.

Friars leading scorer Erik Foley got his team off and running with a goal just 2:27 into the first frame and would add two assists for a three point night.  Also managing three points for the Friars was forward Josh Wilkins whose goal midway through the third period gave his team an insurmountable 5-0 lead.

Providence goaltender Hayden Hawkey stopped all 17 Sun Devil shots he faced in the shutout victory while starting Sun Devil net minder Joey Daccord allowed six goals on 37 shots in the loss.  Providence will face Robert Morris in the championship game while ASU faces off against Lake Superior State at 4:30 p.m. Eastern.
