BOSTON — Sean Malone scored twice and added an assist in No. 12 Harvard’s 5-2 victory over Rensselaer in the first game of an ECAC Hockey quarterfinal series Friday.
Seb Lloyd also scored twice for the Crimson, who opened up a 4-0 lead in the second period.
Miloš Bubela and Phil Hampton scored for the Engineers.
Merrick Madsen made 25 saves for Harvard. Jason Kasdorf allowed four goals on 31 shots before being pulled in the second period in favor of Cam Hackett (11 saves).
