PRINCETON, N.J. — Princeton freshman Max Véronneau scored with seven seconds left in regulation as the Tigers and Brown skated to a 2-2 tie Saturday on senior night at Hobey Baker Rink.
Before the game, Princeton honored Seniors Kevin Liss, Michael Zajac, Mike Ambrosia and Kyle Rankin.
After a scoreless first, Brown’s Davey Middleton opened the scoring just 50 seconds into the second period short-handed. After picking off a pass in the defensive zone, Middleton skated the length of the ice and fired inside the right post for the unassisted tally.
Princeton answered at 4:11, as Ryan Berlin corralled an errant pass at center ice and skated in two-on-one with Stuart Pomeroy. Berlin fed the puck cross ice to Pomeroy, who fired from the edge of the right circle for his first collegiate goal.
Brown regained the lead just under 10 minutes later on the power play, as Tyler Bird lofted the puck up and over Colton Phinney, assisted by Brandon Pfeil and Charlie Corcoran.
Véronneau’s goal in the final seconds started at the point, as Josh Teves kept the puck in the zone and fed Joe Grabowski at the right point. Grabowski fired toward the net and after Eric Robinson and Ryan Kuffner both touched the puck, Véronneau finally poked it home from the top of the crease.
Brown goaltender Tim Ernst made a spectacular glove save to preserve the tie in the overtime session, as Princeton’s Kuffner skated in on a two-on-one break with Kyle Rankin.
Ernst finished with 43 saves in the contest for Brown. Phinney made 35 saves for Princeton.
