GLENDALE, Ariz. — No. 12 Yale’s Frankie DiChiara and Michigan Tech’s Dylan Steman scored third-period goals as the teams played to a 1-1 tie in the championship game of the Desert Hockey Classic on Sunday.
The Huskies’ Alex Petan scored the only goal in a shootout, giving Michigan Tech (12-7-3) the tournament championship.
Michigan Tech’s Jamie Phillips stopped Yale’s Joe Snively, Ryan Hitchcock and Stu Wilson in the shootout after making 24 saves through 65 minutes.
Alex Lyon stopped 25 shots for the Bulldogs (8-4-3).
