Garteig, St. Denis send Quinnipiac past Union

HAMDEN, Conn. — Michael Garteig set a Quinnipiac record with his seventh shutout of the season, and the second-ranked Bobcats beat Union 5-0 on Thursday.

Garteig stopped 25 shots, while the Bobcats’ Travis St. Denis scored twice to reach the 100-point mark for his collegiate career.

Landon Smith, Thomas Aldworth and Tim Clifton also scored for Quinnipiac (18-1-3).

Union’s Alex Sakellaropoulos allowed four goals on 26 shots before being pulled in third period. Jake Kupsky stopped 15 of the 16 shots he faced for the Dutchmen (9-7-4).
