The Princeton offense was dominant early, firing 14 of 28 total shots on net in the first period.

Princeton thought it scored a few minutes in, as Kelsey Koelzer was taken down on a partial breakaway and several players went crashing into goaltender Ashlynne Rando. But after a lengthy review, the officials ruled no-goal.

Midway through the first, Contini netted her 15th goal of the year on a deflected shot set up by Brianne Mahoney and Hillary Lloyd.

At 4:31 of the second, Sly added to the Tigers lead, as Emily Achterkirch and Kiersten Falck set up the play in front, and Sly took a shot that floated up over the shoulder of Rando for the eventual game-winner.

Laura Wildfang cut the deficit in half for the Raiders less than two minutes later, as Hannah Restrict and Melissa Kueber got the puck to Wildfang, who fired a shot through traffic from the point that found its way through.

After the goal, the Raiders gained some momentum on the man advantage, carrying the play for much of the period and firing a total of 13 shots on net. But the Raiders were unable to capitalize, as Princeton goaltender Kimberly Newell did not allow another goal in the game.

After Sly tallied her second goal of the game at 5:26 for Princeton, Colgate pulled Rando for the extra attacker with 5:00 remaining but couldn’t get enough offense going, as Newell and the Tigers defense allowed only three shots in the final stanza. Jaimie McDonnell added an empty-net goal for the Tigers at 17:28.

Newell improved to 9-10-2 on the season for Princeton. Rando made 24 saves for Colgate.
