Following a scoreless first, Morgan Sly got the Tigers on the board at 11:51 of the second, as Emily Achterkirch and Audrey Potts fed Sly in the slot to beat goaltender Kelly O’Brien glove side.
At 6:39 of the third, Laura Horwood netted the equalizer on the rebound, as an Ali Svoboda shot caused a scramble in the crease, and Horwood found the puck and poked it home for her third goal of the year.
After killing off a power play that began late in the third and carried 43 seconds into the overtime session, Shanahan battled three Engineers players in the slot to get the puck back to the point, and headed to the net. Brianna Leahy got the puck to Keirsten Falck at the left circle, who found Shanahan in behind O’Brien at the top of the crease to put home her fourth goal of the season.
Goaltender Kimberly Newell stopped 20 of 21 shots in the Victory for Princeton. O’Brien made 27 saves for Rensselaer.
