NORTHFIELD, Vt. — Tori Charron scored an unassisted goal 4:21 into overtime for Norwich, which punched its ticket to the NCAA semifinals with a 2-1 victory over defending national champion Elmira on Saturday.
Norwich won a program-record 17th straight game when Charron stole the puck from a defender, beat another defender and backhanded a shot past Elmira goalie Lisa Marshall.
It was Charron’s national-best 28th goal of the season and the 104th of her collegiate career.
Norwich’s Haley Gibson tied the game with 5:46 remaining after Anna Tude put Elmira (21-6-1) in front 6:59 into the third period.
Taylor Fairchild stopped 18 shots for Norwich (26-3). Marshall made 35 saves for Elmira.
