Barley-Maloney’s three-point game sends Cornell past Princeton

Erin Barley-Maloney had a goal and two assists, and Hayleith Cudmore tallied three assists to lead No. 4 Cornell to a 4-1 victory over Princeton at Hobey Baker Rink on Saturday.

Barley-Maloney got the Big Red on the board at 9:31 of the first period on the power play for her fifth goal of the season. Cristin Shanahan answered at 1:56 of the third to bring the Tigers even. But the Cornell offense broke the game open in the third, responding with three unanswered goals by Jessica Campbell, Lauriane Rougeau and Brianne Jenner.

Cornell goaltender Lauren Slebodnick earned the win, stopping 14 out of 15 shots. Kimberly Newell made 42 saves for the Tigers.

Before the game, Princeton honored the class of 2013 introducing seniors Barley-Maloney, Laura Fortino and Rougeau for Cornell, and seniors Kelly Cooke, Corey Stearns and Alex Kinney for Princeton.
