The St. Francis Xavier X-Men completed their sweep of Hockey East teams with an 8-5 win over Northeastern on Sunday afternoon following a 6-4 win over Boston University Saturday night. St. Francis Xavier is located in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and is a member of the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) conference.
Northeastern rotated its three returning goalies. Junior Chris Rawlings made 11 saves on 12 X-Men shots in the first period, junior Bryan Mountain followed with six saves on seven shots while sophomore Clay Witt finished the game with eight saves on 14 shots. Freshman X-Man Morgan Clark, who finished his major junior career with Rimouski Oceanic, made 31 saves on 36 Huskies shots.
Seven players made their Huskies debuts in the game: freshmen forwards Ludwig Karlsson, Joseph Manno and Adam Reid, freshmen defensemen Dan Cornell, Josh Manson and Ben Oskroba and junior transfer Vinny Saponari, who played two seasons with Boston University prior to sitting out a year with the Dubuque Fighting Saints (USHL). The game also saw the return of Alex Tuckerman to the Huskies lineup after he missed the entire 2010-11 season with an injury.
