Senior defenseman Ryan Glenn scored two goals and redshirt junior forward Jamie Parker had a goal and two assists to lead St. Lawrence to a 5-1 victory over Colgate Friday night.
The Saints won their second straight as junior goaltender Mike McKenna took a shutout into the last 30 seconds before Colgate junior Dmitry Yashin scored on a power play with 31.5 seconds to play for Colgate’s lone goal.
McKenna had a streak of 159:31 shutout minutes ended by the goal, but the Saints improved to 3-6-3 overall and 2-1-0 in the ECAC, while Colgate is now 3-3-1, 1-2-0.
St. Lawrence scored the only goal of the first period just 11 seconds after Colgate had killed off a Saint power play. Colin FitzRandolph won an offensive zone faceoff back to Jim Hakewill at the point, and Hakewill relayed it to Ryan Glenn.
His rising shot went over the shoulder of Raider goalie Steve Silverthorn at 15:48 for Glenn’s first goal of the year.
The Saints made it a 2-0 game 6:39 into the second as Jamie Parker dug the puck out of the corner and fed freshman Kyle Rank, who was all alone in front of Silverthorn and slammed home his first collegiate goal.
Parker scored his second goal of the season 8:02 into the third period as he scooped the puck past Silverthorn after Rank’s shot from the point was partially blocked, but flipped toward the net.
Freshman defenseman Drew Bagnall then scored his second of the year from the point on a shot which went just inside the post at 11:51, and Glenn went end-to-end for his second of the night and a 5-1 Saint lead just 22 seconds later.
McKenna finished with 26 saves for the Saints while Silverthorn had 22 and David Cann had four for the Raiders.
