Joe Motzko had a goal and three assists as St. Cloud State earned a weekend split by beating Michigan Tech, 4-1, Saturday night at MacInnes Arena.
Matt Gens, Joe Jensen and Jon Cullen also scored for St. Cloud (13-10-3, 9-8-3 WCHA). Jake Moreland made 29 saves.
Colin Murphy and Frank Werner scored for Michigan Tech (8-14-4, 5-10-3). Cam Ellsworth kept the home team in the game by stopping 52 shots.
The game was tied 1-1 after the first period, but St. Cloud took control early in the second. Motzko scored on the power play at 1:53, Jensen tallied on the power play at 4:42 and Cullen made it 4-1 when the scored at 7:43.
Michigan Tech failed to score on its first seven power-play opportunities but finally cashed in when Werner found the back of the net 13:25 into the third period. Tech was 1-for-10 with the man-advantage in the game.
