Brown rallied from a two-goal deficit in the third period to battle No. 5 St. Lawrence to a 5-5 tie Saturday afternoon at Meehan Auditorium. Freshman Keaton Zucker tied the game with her second goal of the game with less than three minutes left in regulation.
St. Lawrence got on the board first at the 7:41 mark. Rebecca Russell chipped in a shot by Laurie Ross for her eighth goal of the season. Gina Kingsbury also earned an assist on the play.
Brown tied the game at the 18:01 mark. Freshman Keaton Zucker netted her second goal of the weekend on a power play with freshman Karen Thatcher and sophomore Kerry Nugent earning assists.
The Saints answered 32 seconds later with a shorthanded goal to take back the lead. Ricki-Lee Doyle scored her seventh of the season with Sara Simard and Lindsay Charlebois earning assists.
Brown goalkeeper Pam Dreyer was outstanding in net in the period, stopping 16 shots.
The Bears did not allow the Saints to keep their lead for long as they scored just 1:02 into the second period. Thatcher recorded her sixth goal of the season and second point of the game to knot the game 2-2. Senior Kim Insalaco and sophomore Katie Guay tallied assists on the play.
Just over three minutes later, sophomore Jessica Link netted her 13th of the season to give Brown a 3-2 lead. Senior Courtney Johnson and Zucker recorded assists on the play.
Zucker has now scored at least two points in the last two games, upping her season total to eight points.
St. Lawrence tied the game 3-3 at the 7:41 mark. Russell tallied her second goal of the game with Trisha Powers and Doyle earning assists. The Saints went into the locker room with a 4-3 advantage by the end of the second period.
Chera Marshall tallied her tenth goal of the season with Tracey Muzerall earning her first point of the weekend with the assist at the 13:26 mark.
The Saints took their biggest lead of the game just 1:02 into the third. Powers tallied her second point of the game to give St. Lawrence a 5-3 lead. Charlebois earned her second assist of the game on the play.
The Bears cut the lead back to one four minutes later when Thatcher tallied her second goal of the game. Freshman Myria Heinhuis earned her second assist of the season while Guay earned her second assist of the game on the play.
Brown tied the game 5-5 with less than three minutes left. Link passed up the ice to Zucker, who skated in all alone, sending the game into overtime.
