Army won a 4-2 decision over American International Friday evening in a MAAC contest at the Olympia Ice Center. Junior Dave Andros scored two goals, while Seth Beamer and Corey Rudd each added two points in the victory.
The Black Knights improve to 5-9-0 overall and 5-7-0 in conference play, while AIC slips to 4-8-2 overall and 3-6-1 in league action.
Army, which had been idle for 26 days, scored the game’s first goal just 1:49 into the contest when Andros blasted a slapshot just inside the blue line, beating AIC goalminder Chad Davis. Rudd and Beamer were credited with assists.
The Black Knights increased their lead to two midway through the first period when Jon Boyle scored glove-side off a faceoff.
AIC’s Trent Ulmer cut the deficit in half with a power-play goal at 12:28 of the second period, but Army responded five minutes later when Chris Casey scored off a perfectly executed give-and-go with Chris Garceau and Chad Mayfield .
Andros added his second goal of the night early in the final period to put the visitors ahead 4-1 before the Yellow Jackets scored the night’s final goal when freshman Ryan Robin put home a rebound.
