Sophomore forward Beau Kretzman notched four goals to lead Amherst to an 8-1 rout of ECAC East foe UMass-Boston Saturday afternoon at Clark Athletic Center. Sophomore Jon Hill also chipped in with a goal and a pair of assists.
Kretzman tallied his first goal of the game with just under a minute remaining in the opening period, giving the Jeffs a 1-0 advantage.
Amherst found the net four more times in the second. Hill ignited the barrage 7:08 into the stanza, off a feed from sophomore defender William Jenkins. Kretzman completed the hat trick with less than one minute to play in the frame, extending the Amherst lead to 5-0 heading into the final period.
The Jeffs tacked on another three goals to seal the victory.
Senior netminder Jaffrie Perrotti finished with 15 saves while UMass-Boston’s Jeff Riley turned aside 30 shots.
With the victory, the Jeffs evened their record at 1-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play while UMass-Boston falls to 0-2 and 0-2.
