Freshman center T.J. Treveleyan scored two goals and set up the third as St. Lawrence skated to a 3-2 exhibition victory over the U.S. National Development Under-18 Team in an exhibition game at Appleton Arena Sunday evening.
The Under-18 team lost its second game of a North Country weekend set, both by one-goal margins. The team is now 2-3 against collegiate competition and all three losses have been by a single goal.
Treveleyan opened the scoring against US goalie Wylie Rogers when he picked the upper corner on a rush into the US end at 12:53 of the first, but the Under-18 team tied it at 14:46 of the second period when J.D. Corbin finished off an odd-man rush with a shot over the shoulder of second Saint goaltender Sean Knaub.
The Saints then took the lead with goals just 18 seconds apart in the third period. Treveleyan put a move on a defender to walk in on Rogers, tucking the puck between his pads at 7:34 and then broke into the US zone again and fed Jim Lorentz for the third Saint goal at 7:52.
The Under-18 team peppered Knaub in the third period as the Saint junior had 13 of his 20 saves, but could only get one back as Josh Sciba scored from right in front with Rogers out of the net and right at the end of a two-man advantage power play at 17:43.
