Juniors J.D. Forrest and Tony Voce each scored two goals to lead Boston College to an 11-2 victory over Queens University in an exhibition contest in Kelley Rink.
Boston College led 2-0 after one period and 7-2 after two periods, before adding four goals in the final 20 minutes to gain the win.
Freshman Patrick Eaves earned the game’s first-star honor, finishing with a team-high five points — one goal and four assists. Patrick Eaves assisted on the game’s first goal — a power-play goal scored by his older brother Ben — at 7:27. Patrick tallied his goal just more than nine minutes later to round out the first-period scoring.
The Eagles’ special-teams units scored three of the team’s four goals in the middle period. Forrest netted two power-play goals, while sophomore Ryan Murphy added a shorthanded goal. Voce scored the team’s only even-strength goal of the period.
Voce opened the third-period scoring at 0:48. Junior Justin Dziama gave BC a 9-2 advantage at 2:08. Seniors Anthony D’Arpino and A.J. Walker closed out the scoring, each netting a power-play goal.
Boston College outshot Queens, 63-9. Senior goaltender Tim Kelleher made five saves for the Eagles in the first period. Sophomore goaltender Matti Kaltiainen played the second period, and classmate Robbie Miller played the final peirod. Each made one save.
The Queens University attack was led by Jamie Brock, who netted the team’s first goal at 9:11 of the second period, and Andrew Haussler, who scored a power-play goal at 13:02 of the middle period. Goaltender Matt Kenney made 52 saves.
Boston College will open the regular season on Sunday, Oct. 13 against the Massachusetts. Game time is 5 p.m. at the Mullins Center in Amherst, Mass.
