Exhibition games are either considered uneventful or very exciting. This game fell into the second category. Both Ferris State and Western Ontario came out with high energy. When the dust cleared, it was Ferris State that came out on top, 9-5.

The Bulldogs jumped on the board first. Mike Kinnie, Troy Milam, Brett Smith, and Phil Lewandowski all scored in the first period and chased Mustang goalie Mike D’Alessandro. Mike Boyce, who came on in relief, provided Ontario some spark as Shawn Thompson scored on an unassisted power play goal at 19:58 to make it 4-1.

Bulldog goalie Mike Brown turned away 11 of 12 shots before John Decaro came on in the middle of the second period to deny 20 of 24 shots to the finish.

Derek Nesbitt tallied a goal and two assists while Lewandowski netted two goals. Western Ontario forward Ryan Held scored twice.

Ferris State tallied 5 goals on Boyce while Ontario scored 4 times on John Decaro.

The Bulldogs face a tougher test next week when they face St. Cloud State in a two game series in Big Rapids.
