Providence rallied from a 2-0 deficit to tie New Hampshire, 2-2, on Friday at Schneider Arena.
The Wildcats led 1-0 after one period on a power-play goal by sophomore Jaime VanMassenhove. UNH increased its lead to 2-0 as Kira Misikowetz tallied her 11th goal of the season early in the second period.
Freshman Ashley Payton scored at the 7:11 mark of the second period to cut the lead to 2-1. Just 14 seconds later junior Danielle Culgin’s shot was saved by UNH goaltender Jen Huggon, but Culgin collected the rebound and fired in backhand for a 2-2 tie. Freshman Hilary Greaves and sophomore Sarah Youlen assisted on the goal.
The Friars outshot the Wildcats, 28-27. Huggon made 26 saves, while sophomore Amy Quinlan stopped 25 shots. UNH and PC will complete the regular season series on Saturday at the Whittemore Center.
