D.J. Miller scored a late third-period goal to lift Connecticut past Bentley, 3-2, Friday evening at the John A. Ryan Arena.
Connecticut (8-11-6, 7-6-4 MAAC), which has now won three straight games, remains undefeated against Bentley (2-21-2, 2-15-2 MAAC) in the series (7-0-1 all-time).
Matt Owens gave UConn the early 1-0 lead at the 59- second mark of the first period on assists from Anders Johnson and Trent Landry . Bentley evened the on a Joe Lovell tally at 6:29 of the period during the power play. Tim Calabro gave Bentley its only lead of the game 12 seconds later, completing the first period scoring.
Bentley held the 2-1 lead through most of the second period, until Connecticut’s Ron D’Angelo tied the score at the 19:18 mark during a power play. He was assisted by Jon Ames and Matt Herhal .
Miller’s goal came with 2:08 remaining in regulation with help from Mike Boylan and Beau McLaughin .
For UConn, Artie Imbriano recorded 20 saves, while Bentley’s Simon St. Pierre stopped 30 shots on goal and also added an assist on the Falcons’ second goal. UConn outshot Bentley, 33-22.
Connecticut will host Bentley on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the UConn Ice Arena.
