Mercyhurst won its sixth straight game and stretched its unbeaten streak to 11 (10-0-1) with a 3-0 win over visiting Colgate Saturday at the Ice Center.
Mercyhurst, the ninth-ranked team in the nation, improved its record to 14-5-1 while the Raiders dropped to 5-8-1.
The Lakers got the only goal they would need when junior forward Seanna Murphy scored her third of the season at 9:37 of the first period. Junior center C.J. Ireland added her fourth at 15:12 as Mercyhurst took a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.
The score remained that way until junior defender Jenn Jeffrey scored an unassisted goal at :47 of the third.
Freshman goalie Desi Clark picked up her third win and her second career shutout. Clark must carry the goaltending burden for the time being as junior netminder Tiffany Ribble recovers from a leg injury sustained over the holiday break.
Mercyhurst outshot Colgate 26-9 as freshman Rebecca Lahar stopped 23 shots in defeat.
Both teams failed to connect on the power play. Mercyhurst finished 0 for 2 while the Raiders ended 0 for 3.
The teams will close the weekend series Sunday at 2:00pm at the Ice Center.
