The Brown Bears had the opportunity to rematch the Saints Saturday afternoon and managed to pull off the win, 4-2.

Despite outshooting the Bears 27-21, the Saints were unable to capitalize on their scoring opportunities and just didn’t get any breaks in another close battle between the two teams.

In the first period neither team was able to put the in the net, but Shannon Smith put the Saints on the scoreboard just two minutes into the second period. Russell created the opportunity, passing the puck to Chera Marshall in the slot, who was unable to get it to the net, as Smith picked up the puck and found the back of the net.

But Brown was able to tie up the game in the last two minutes of the period on a fluke bounce from Zamora’s shot just beyond the goal line.

Unfortunately for them, fate did not seem to be with the Saints, who created many scoring opportunities throughout the game on which they were not able to put the puck past the Bears goaltender Pam Dreyer, who achieved her second win of the year.

However, Smith was able to give the Saints the lead two minutes into the period. Marshall passed the puck up to Russell, who skated the puck into the zone and found Smith charging to the net, as Smith placed the puck over the goaltender’s right pad.

But Brown battled back and scored three unanswered goals, giving the Bears the victory.

Brown’s tying goal came from Turner on the Bears’ first power play of the game. Guay intercepted a pass through the neutral zone and fired a slapshot into the top right corner of the net.

The Bears’ final goal was on an empty net.
