The Vermont Catamounts came out more determined on Saturday against the St. Lawrence Saints. However, this determination was unable to stop the Saints from controlling the game. The Saints accumulated 58 shots on net and held the Catamounts to two. The Saints ended their weekend sweeping the Catamounts with a 6-0 after a 9-0 win the night before.
The goaltending of the Catamounts was incredible yet again. Freshman Kami Coti made an outstanding 52 saves. Freshman Lea Armendariz made her career debut for the Saints in net and stopped both shots the Catamounts got on net.
The Saints created a total of 21 shots on net in the first period. Vicky Hauck started the Saints scoring 9 minutes into the first period, with assists from Sara Simard and Kelly Sage. Trisha Powers netted another goal for the Saints while on a power play just three minutes later, ending the first period with the Saints leading 2-0.
The Saints netted two more goals in the second period. Suzanne Fiacco scored six minutes into the period, with assists from Simard and Hauck. Defensemen Lindsay Charlebois placed a shot from the point between the Catamount’s goaltender’s legs to give the Saints a 4-0 lead.
The play in the third period became physical and each team received four penalties each. Despite on the time spent in the boxes, neither team was able to capitalize on the power plays. However, the Saints put in 2 more goals in the third period. Chera Marshall scored less than three minutes into the period, with assists from Amanda Sargeant and Powers. Powers concluded the Saints’ scoring with an assist from Sargeant.
