Potsdam avenged its upset loss to Cortland in the first round of the SUNYAC Challenge by blanking Buffalo State 5-0 in the tournament’s consolation round.
Chris Hesse scored a power play goal, and the eventual game winner, at 5:49 of the first. The big senior forward added a second goal at 2:19 of the third.
Mike Snow added a second first period goal on the man advantage for the Bears, while Lou Demers and Nick Andrews had second period Potsdam tallies.
Ryan Venturelli made 25 saves in the shutout.
Buffalo State (0-2-0) takes on fledgling Utica College, Friday, Oct. 26, and Milwaukee School of Engineering the following night, in the Buffalo State All Sport Invitational. Potsdam (1-1-0) hosts Carleton in an exhibition on Saturday, Oct. 27, before visiting Cortland and Oswego the following weekend to start its SUNYAC conference schedule.
