Sonia Corriveau scored once and added an assist to lead the College of Limoilu past the University of Vermont, 2-0, in a women’s hockey exhibition game at Gutterson Fieldhouse this afternoon.
Stefanie Bourbeau converted a feed from teammates Brigitte Laflamme and Corriveau at 10:10 of the first period to give the Titans a 1-0 lead.
Vermont played well in the second period and held Limoilou scoreless in the second period. However Corriveau added an insurance goal early in the final period to close out the scoring.
All-American Tiffany Hayes made 38 saves in the Vermont net, while Nancy Morin turned aside 10 shots for the Titans.
Vermont, which is playing its first season at the Division I level in 2001-2002, opens the regular season with a five-game road swing through Ohio, Michigan and Boston, Massachusetts. The Catamounts travel to Findlay, Ohio to take on the University of Findlay on Friday, October 12th. UVM will also play at Wayne State on Saturday and Sunday, October 13th and 14th.
