Wisconsin-River Falls skated to a 2-2 tie at Wisconsin-Superior on Friday night in the first game of the NCHA championship series. The tie snapped a 19-game winning streak by Superior.
All four were scored while teams were on the power play.
River Falls grabbed a 1-0 lead 43 seconds into the second period when Evan Stensrud scored on assists from Adam Kragthorpe and Jeff Bernard. At the 2:29 mark, Superior’s Kris Wilson tied the game while on a 5-on-3 power play.
River Falls went back on top in the third period when Jess Johnson scored a
power-play goal with assists by Kragthorpe and Bernard. But Superior tied
the game later in the period when Josh Liebenow scored a short-handed goal.
