Chris Cerrella netted one goal and three assists to lead Quinnipiac to a 4-2 victory over Connecticut.
The loss drops UConn to 11-17-4 overall (11-10-3 MAAC), while Quinnipiac improves to 18-10-4 (15-7-2).
The Braves’ Ryan Olson opened the scoring at the 13:37 mark of the first period on a power-play tally. Jed Holtzman responded less than five minutes later on another power-play goal to end the period.
UConn’s Ciro Longobardi brought the score within one at the 6:03 mark of the second period.
Chris Cerrella netted Quinnipiac’s last power play goal at 6:04 of the third period.
Anders Johnson responded for UConn 12 seconds later. But, Matt Erhart sealed the victory for
Quinnipiac at the 16:03 mark.
Jason Carey suffered the loss in net recording 23 saves, while Quinnipiac’s Justin Eddy also stopped 23 shots on goal. The Braves outshot UConn, 27-25. In the penalty-filled game, Quinnipiac went 3-for-8 on the power play, while UConn went 0-for-6.
