Connecticut men’s played to a 3-3 tie with Fairfield after the game was delayed for an hour due to a zamboni problem at the Wonderland of Ice Rink in Bridgeport. Connecticut remains at 10-13-4 overall, 10-6-3 in the MAAC, while Fairfield stands at 7-14-2 overall, 6-10-3 in conference action.
UConn’s Kurt Kamienski opened the scoring just 1:46 into the game on an assists from Ciro Longobardi and Mike Anderson. Fairfield’s Dan Cotter tied the score on a Rae Metz pass off of a face-off in the UConn defensive zone at the 3:20 mark. The Stags then took the lead with 14 seconds left in the period on a Peter Hams’ shot from the blue line.
The Huskies evened the score 1:33 into the second stanza. Michael Goldkind nailed a shot with assists from his defensemen Mike Boylan and Eric Nelson.
Fairfield jumped in front again on a goal from James Lubinski at the 15:55 mark.
Ron D’Angelo tied the score for Connecticut over a minute later.
The two teams played to the 3-3 draw through the third and overtime periods.
Artie Imbriano made 31 saves in goal for Connecticut, while Fairfield’s Craig Schnappinger recorded 25 saves. Fairfield outshot Connecticut, 34-28.
