Tim Skarperud scored the game-winning goal with 8 minutes, 40 seconds remaining on Saturday to break a 3-3 tie and give North Dakota a 4-3 victory over St. Cloud State and a series sweep.
Skarperud’s eighth goal of the season was a hard shot from the top of the circle that beat a screened Scott Meyer low to the glove side.
It came after St. Cloud (19-6-1, 12-6 WCHA) responded from a 3-1 deficit with a Duvie Westcott goal with five minutes left in the second period and a Nate DiCasmirro score early in the third period.
That prompted North Dakota (18-5-5, 14-4-2 WCHA) coach Dean Blais to pull goaltender Andy Kollar in favor of Karl Goehring, who earned the victory over the Huskies on Friday.
Jon Cullen scored 15:19 into the first period to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead, but Chad Mazurak, Jeff Panzer and Wes Dorey scored in the first 12:12 of the second for a 3-1 lead.
Meyer made 30 saves in the loss. Kollar made 12 saves before making way for Goehring, who stopped 13 in the last 19:32.
